Flats: In September, Vietnam’s consumption of Chinese HRC remained sluggish, with several factors restricting buyers’ enthusiasm.
Longs: The Southeast Asian rebar import market in September saw a slow rise after a decline, rather than the extended decline from early August.
Semis: The ASEAN billet market was more positive. After a first-week decline, the rest of September saw a slow but sustained rise. Both Chinese and ASEAN steel markets reacted positively to Beijing’s stimulus rollout in late September.
BF Raw Materials: Seaborne iron ore prices fell rapidly at the beginning of the reporting month as the steel market hit a multi-year low, and fluctuated at this level since then. It was not until the end of the month that iron ore prices soared again.
EAF Raw Materials:The Kanto Tetsugen monthly Japanese scrap export tender closed lower in September compared with the prior month.
