Whyalla hit by blackouts
Australia’s Whyalla Steelworks, operated by Arrium, has managed so far to avoid an uncontrolled cool down of its blast furnace following blackouts across the region. The storm-induced blackouts will still mean shut downs, unexpected costs and be of concern to potential buyers for the site, Kallanish notes.
