Weak prices seen offsetting Indian demand growth
The benefits to Indian steelmakers of domestic demand growth will be offset by weak steel prices caused by global overcapacity and cheap imports, according to India Ratings & Research (Ind-Ra).
Ind-Ra expects Indian steel consumption demand to increase 6.3-6.5% in the fiscal year through March 2017 (FY17) on growth in key end-user industries such as construction, capital goods and consumer durables.
