USW pledges support to Minnesota's Smith
The United Steelworkers (USW) labour union is praising the appointment of former Minnesota Lieutenant Governor Tina Smith to the US Senate to replace outgoing Senator Al Franken, Kallanish reports.
Franken resigned in the wake of several accusations of sexual harassment. Smith was appointed to the vacant seat by Governor Mark Dayton, who previously partnered with Senator Franken on iron ore development initiatives in the region’s Mesabi Range.
