Usiminas temporarily halts two blast furnaces at Ipatinga
Brazilian steelmaker Usiminas says that is temporarily adjusting its production to meet market demand. This follows a fall in Brazilian national economic activity arising from the spread of the coronavirus, the company says in a statement monitored by Kallanish.
“The board has approved the temporary shutdown of blast furnace number 2 and Steelworks 1 of the Ipatinga plant as from 4 April, as well as halting blast furnace no.1 as from 22 April,” Usimina…
