Usiminas sees $71m blocked due to environmental damage
The Second Civil Court of Ipatinga, in the Brazilian state of Minas Gerais, has blocked BRL 346.7 million ($71.2m) from Usiminas bank accounts, Kallanish learns from the steelmaker.
The measure follows a request from the Public Ministry of Minas Gerais (MPMG) for alleged ecological contamination caused by the company's operations in Ipatinga.
