Usiminas to resume operations at Ipatinga blast furnace
Brazilian steelmaker Usiminas will resume operations at blast furnace number 1 at its Ipatinga plant in Minas Gerais state in April 2018. The decision has been approved by the steelmaker's board of directors, the company says in statement monitored by Kallanish.
“The restart of the blast furnace will increase Usiminas current production capacity and will reduce the purchase of steel plates from third parties,” the steelmaker adds.
