Ipatinga furnace resumption to meet Brazil demand growth
Brazilian steelmaker Usiminas says that it estimates that it will increase its production capacity of pig iron to some 500,000-600,000 tonnes/year to meet increasing domestic demand. This comes after the steelmaker said it will resume operations at blast furnace number 1 at its Ipatinga plant in Minas Gerais state in April 2018, in a statement monitored by Kallanish.
