Usiminas halts steel output after Ipatinga explosion
Brazilian steelmaker Usiminas says that all 34 people injured when a gasometer exploded at its Ipatinga plant last Friday have now been discharged from hospital. Some areas of the plant affected by the blast remain closed.
The accident occurred in one of the unit's four gasometers in the mill’s steelmaking area at about 12:40 p.m. The cause of the explosion is not yet known. About 4,000 people work in the plant but at the time of the accident most work…
