Usiminas closes blast furnace after accident
Brazilian steelmaker Usinas Siderúrgicas de Minas Gerais confirms it suffered last Friday an accident at No.2 blast furnace at its Ipatinga plant.
“The BF2 will have its operation halted for a period of between 90 and 150 days, depending on the repairing solution to be implemented,” Usiminas explains in a note monitored by Kallanish.
