US scrap trading starts 2024 with negative trend
Scrap trading in the US kicked off on Friday with a Detroit-area mill’s bids at $50/gross ton lower for busheling and $20/gt lower for shredded and P&S versus December values.
The market was quite bullish in December over January trading prospects. However, the downward trend in Turkey towards the end of last year and mild weather conditions in the US caused sentiment to turn bearish, Kallanish notes.
