US rebar enters seasonal slowdown, prices flatten
Demand for domestically produced rebar in the US is dwindling through mid-September, due to a seasonal slowdown in purchases by the nation's construction industries.
"New orders are slowing down, but that is, historically, how the market tends to move around this time of year," a northeastern rebar distributor tells Kallanish. "Everyone in the industry is keeping an eye on the US Steel deal and possible [United Auto Workers] strike."
