US manufacturing sector grows, slows in December
US manufacturing activity appears to have grown in December, albeit at a slightly reduced rate when compared to November, according to the Institute for Supply Management’s manufacturing business index.
December’s index figure fell to 54.1 from November’s figure of 59.3, but remained in positive territory.
The institute’s poll of manufacturers in various industries echoed the index figure, Kallanish notes.
