US flat-steel demand weakening into 2024: Macquarie
The outlook for US flat-steel demand is weakening even without the effects of the United Auto Workers strike against Detroit’s Big Three, according to a new commodities report by Macquarie sent to Kallanish.
Macquarie now forecasts average fourth-quarter US HRC pricing at $840/tonne, with a “small increase” to $880/t in the first quarter of 2024. The full-year 2024 average is projected to be $913/t.
