US bulk scrap weakens in East Asia

East Asia has started to procure US bulk scrap, Kallanish notes. East Asian mills have been reluctant recently to place orders amid falling steel and raw material markets. A South Korean mill booked a 32,000-tonne cargo from West Coast US at $280/tonne cfr HMS 1&2 80:20 basis or $281/t cfr HMS I basis. The cargo, which was booked on Thursday, is due for October shipment or November arrival.
