Universal reports third-quarter loss due to fire, maintenance
US specialty steel producer Universal Stainless reported a loss in the third quarter despite improvement in nearly all of its end-use markets, Kallanish understands.
Universal lost $300,000 on sales of $50.9 million – primarily due to expenses related to fires at its Dunkirk, New York, and Bridgeville, Pennsylvania, facilities. In Q3 2016, the company lost $500,000 on sales of $39.7m.
