United Steelworkers ask Canada for wage subsidy rules
The Canadian wing of the United Steelworkers labour union is urging government oversight of its emergency wage subsidy program to ensure the funds go directly to workers, Kallanish reports.
The program, which provides subsidies of up to 75% for employees affected by the Covid-19 pandemic, should not be funneled into corporate profits, says union national director Ken Neumann. Previously, Neumann had called for the subsidies to be increased to at least 85-90%…
