Ukraine decreases scrap purchases in January

Ukrainian mills significantly reduced procurement of ferrous scrap in January, according to the Ukrainian association of secondary metals, UAVtormet. The volume purchased decreased by 75.6% on-year to 60,500 tonnes, Kallanish notes. Supply of scrap to Ukrainian enterprises also fell, by 78% to 49,400t. Reserves of scrap at steel enterprises are meanwhile estimated at 10,000-15,000t. Export of scrap in January amounted to 8,300t, down 56.9% on-year. Raw mater…
