Ukraine becomes self-sufficient in scrap in first quarter
Ferrous scrap export volumes from Ukraine have plunged in the first quarter of the year on the existing export duty and low demand caused by the restrictive measures aimed at curbing the Covid-19 spread.
Ferrous scrap exports from Ukraine in January-March totalled 11,372 tonnes, -42.1% less year-on-year, as March exports totalled just 495t, data from the state customs service show. In fiscal terms, exports fell by -46.1% to just $2.94 million, Kallanish notes…
