UK manufacturing PMI plunges in July

The UK manufacturing sector started the third quarter on a weaker footing, according to the Chartered Institute of Purchasing (CIPS)/Markit Purchasing Managers Index (PMI) survey monitored by Kallanish. At 48.2 in July, down from 52.4 in June, the seasonally adjusted Markit/CIPS PMI fell to its lowest level since February 2013. The reading was also below the earlier flash estimate of 49.1.
