UK commercial construction downturn leads August sector fall
Activity in the UK construction sector slowed again in July according to the latest Markit/Chartered Institute of Purchasing and Supply (CIPS) survey monitored by Kallanish. The fall-off was primarily due to a major reduction in steel-intensive commercial work, which fell at the fastest pace for 12 months following a decrease in June, Markit/CIPS says.
