Turkish steel output slumps in August
Turkish crude steel production fell -5.7% on-year in August to 3 million tonnes, due to a -8.2% slump in electric arc furnace-based output, according to Turkish Steel Producers Association (TCUD) data monitored by Kallanish.
In January-August crude steel output nevertheless still grew 1.7% on-year to 25.16mt, driven by a 2% increase in EAF output to 17.37mt while oxygen converter output rose 1.1% to 7.78mt.
