Turkish scrap price chute hits Italian market: Assofermet

Italian steel trade association Assofermet confirms to Kallanish that ferrous scrap prices in Italy remained flat compared to July in the first part of August but then fell towards the end of the month. This was due to the effects of the increased US Section 232 tariffs on Turkey which means that the country is now buying less scrap and producing less finished products.
