Tsingshan floats another Indonesian nickel smelting investment
China’s Tsingshan Holdings has said it is considering investing in a new 1.5 million tonne/year ferronickel plant in Indonesia’s North Kalimantan. The project would join the company’s existing smelters and the stainless steel works it is currently commissioning in Morowali, Kallanish notes.
Some reports have suggested that Tsingshan could eventually build a 2m t/y stainless steel works and a 10m t/y carbon steelworks in Kalimantan. These plans …
