Tokyo Steel to increase local scrap purchases
Japanese steelmaker Tokyo Steel will forgo the use of imported scrap and focus on buying local scrap to help the company move towards carbon neutrality.
Soichiro Tsuda, Tokyo Steel's deputy general manager in charge of procurement, said in a recent interview that the company hopes to promote the local circulation of Japanese scrap through competitive pricing, rather than exporting it.
