On Tuesday, thyssenkrupp Steel put its meltshop 2 back into operation after modernisation measures, Kallanish is told by the German company.
The furnace is part of its largest steel mill in Duisburg with an annual capacity of 5.4 million tonnes. It took a downtime period parallel to the ongoing relining of blast furnace 1, the hot metal of which is mainly processed into crude steel in meltshop 2.
