Technical failure halts ArcelorMittal Spain coke production
ArcelorMittal confirms to Kallanish that it had to temporarily halt the first new coke battery at its Gijón plant.
The battery was stopped two days after it begun producing coke last week, due to a failure of tar generating equipment in the coal distillation process, the steelmaker says. The coke battery is in 'hot idle' mode in order to resume production quickly.
