Tangshan Iron & Steel (Tanggang) stopped production at its No.1 steel rolling plant on 16 August. This indicates the company has fully shut down its old headquarters in Tangshan and will move to its new plant in Laoting, Kallanish notes.

The total capacity of Tanggang’s No.1 plant is 5 million tonnes/year of cold rolled coil in widths of 850-1,680mm and thicknesses of 0.8-12.7mm. The company also ceased production at the last blast furnace in its headquarters’ north district on 15 August.

According to the original plan, Tanggang should have shut down facilities at its old mills before the end of June (see Kallanish passim). The company’s new plant in Laoting is still expected to be commissioned before 1 October and reach capacity of 2.66 million tonnes/year of iron and 2.3m t/y of steel.
