Sanxing Coal Gasification Co. (Taiyuan Sanxing) in Taiyuan City has stopped production and shut down all its facilities, Kallanish notes.

Taiyuan Sanxing’s annual output is 600,000 tonnes of high-quality metallurgical coke, 150 million cubic metres of gas, 25,000t of tar and 5,000t of crude benzene.

The shutdown was required by the local government. On the one hand, Yangqu County has replaced all gas used by residents with natural gas this year, bidding farewell to the era of gas supplied by coking companies. On the other hand, Taiyuan plans to eliminate all coke ovens under 4.3 metres by the end of October.

The capacity of facilities dismantled by Taiyuan Sanxing will be transferred to its parent company, Shanxi Yaxin Group. Yaxin intends to build four coke ovens in the Qingxu Economic Development Zone in Taiyuan, reaching a capacity of 2.8 million t/year of coking coal.
