Strike necessity divides US Steel, USW in negotiations
US Steel does not believe that its on-going negotiations with the United Steelworkers (USW) will lead to a work stoppage, according to a company statement.
The union, however, begs to differ, Kallanish understands.
US Steel acknowledged the extension of the union's previous contract already announced by the USW and lent colour to the negotiation process. The previous contract expired on 1 September.
