Chinas steel imports grow in the face of a weak market
China’s finished steel imports were up 2.5% year-on-year in 2014 to 14.43 million tonnes, say the latest China Customs figures. Imports gained from gaps in Chinese supply despite weak Chinese steel demand and an increasing reliance on exports to balance the market, Kallanish notes.
