Steel futures slump but spot rebar solid

Chinese steel futures slumped on Tuesday but on the spot market rebar held steady while hot rolled coil dropped. Tokyo Steel meanwhile appears confident prices will not collapse, Kallanish notes. The October rebar contract on the Shanghai Futures Exchange closed at CNY 3,229/tonne ($468/t), down CNY 147/t.
