Steel futures keep fluctuating as inventories diverge
Chinese rebar and hot rolled coil futures on Thursday closed lower than the prior day, but intraday trading prices were higher, indicating that market sentiment continued to fluctuate, Kallanish notes.
On the Shanghai Futures Exchange, the most-traded October 2024 rebar contract closed at CNY 3,535/tonne ($486/t) on Thursday, down CNY 28/t compared from the prior trading day. The same contract for HRC lost CNY 18/t to CNY 3,735/t.
