Steel Dynamics buys Heartland for $400 million
US steel producer Steel Dynamics plans to acquire CSN subsidiary Heartland for $400 million, Kallanish reports.
The deal means an additional 1m short tons/year of flat-rolled capacity in the Midwest, bringing the company’s total flat-rolled capacity to 8.4m and its total shipping capacity to 12.4m.
Heartland will also broaden Steel Dynamics’ product offering with its light-gauge and wide-roll capabilities.
