Spain’s March scrap consumption falls
The Spanish steel sector used 747,000 tonnes of ferrous scrap for steelmaking in March, down 5.3% month-on-month. This was also 29.1% less over the same month in 2021, according to Spanish steelmakers' association Unesid.
The local steel industry produced around 1.01 million tonnes of crude steel in March. This was up by 3.2% compared to the previous month’s output of 984,000t, but down almost 23% year-on-year, Kallanish notes.
