SMS to supply new Hongda high-speed rod line
German plant supplier SMS tells Kallanish that it has landed an order from Chinese steel company Hejin Hongda Special Steel Co. Ltd. for a high-speed wire rod line.
The central element of the 700,000 tons/year line will be a ten-stand wire rod block of SMS group design, the plantmaker says. The range of rolled products will include wire rod in diameters from 5.5-20.0mm and rebar in diameters from 6-14mm finish-rolled at speeds of up to 105 metres/second.
