SMS lands contract for Sandvik converter upgrade
German technology supplier SMS tells Kallanish that it has bagged an order from Sweden’s Sandvik to revamp an AOD converter at the steelmaker’s stainless mill in Sandviken.
SMS will supply a new converter tilt drive system and hydraulic torque retainer for the 75-ton AOD converter and will be responsible for performance of the erection work, supervision of erection and commissioning. Commissioning is scheduled for August 2018.
