Sichuan output slumps as inland provinces struggle
Southwest China’s Sichuan province has seen output slump -9.5% year-on-year over January-April 2016 to 6.03 million tonnes, according to the local statistics bureau. As economic growth and construction activity in China’s inland provinces slow, and as exports become increasingly important for steelmakers, production is gradually moving towards the coast, Kallanish notes.
