Shangang Rizhao tests upgraded continuous caster
Shandong Iron & Steel Rizhao Company (Shangang) has hot tested one upgraded 1900x200mm continuous slab caster, with an annual capacity of 1.5 million tonnes/year, Kallanish notes.
The continuous caster can supply three rolling mills for plate and hot rolled coil, with products including pipeline steel, ship plate and pressure vessel plate. Shangang hopes the upgrade could improve its ability to produce high-end products.
