Shangang begins Rizhao blast furnace construction
China’s Shandong Iron and Steel (Shangang) held a ceremony on 17 November to mark the digging of the foundation of the first blast furnace at its Rizhao steelworks project. The delayed blast furnace is still on track to be commissioned in 2017, when it will be part of a new generation of Chinese low-cost coastal steelworks, Kallanish notes.
