Semiconductor shortage forces GM to idle 4 plants
US automaker General Motors will temporarily idle four plants in North America due to the ongoing semiconductor chip shortage, Kallanish understands.
As reported in several media outlets - including the Detroit Free Press - the four affected plants are in Lansing, Michigan; Spring Hill, Tennessee; San Luis Potosi, Mexico; and Ramos Arizpe, Mexico.
The plants primarily produce steel-heavy midsize SUVs.
