Seaborne iron ore takes another tumble
Chinese steel futures prices saw the gap widen between rebar and hot rolled coil on Thursday as rebar weakened and coil rose slightly. Seaborne iron ore prices continue to erode steadily as platform trading remained eerily quiet.
The May 2016 rebar contract on the Shanghai Futures Exchange closed down by CNY 10/tonne at CNY 1648/t ($256/t). The same contract for hot rolled coil meanwhile closed up again CNY 5/t at CNY 1735/t.
