Scrap import prices continue to rise in Asia
Scrap import prices continue to rise in Asia as reflected by recent bookings in Korea and Vietnam, Kallanish notes. In Japan, the uptrend in the domestic scrap market has also continued.
Last Friday, Hyundai Steel booked a 30,000-tonne cargo of US scrap for January shipment at $350/t cfr Korea HMS I basis, Korean trading sources say. The latest booking is up $3/t from another US bulk scrap cargo the leading Korean mill booked earlier last week.
