Ukraine scrap shortage reaches 15% of requirement in May
Ukrainian steel companies have suffered from scrap shortages for five months. In May, the shortfall amounted to 57,000 tonnes, equating to 15% of industry needs. This led again to shutdowns of steelmaking enterprises, Kallanish learns from Interpipe.
Scrap exports in the five months totalled 104,000t. Similarly to Russia (see Kallanish 13 June), Ukraine is “looking for a way out of this situation”, says Interpipe.
