Saudi drags down Middle East January steel output
Crude steel production in the four Middle Eastern countries covered by the World Steel Association’s monthly report declined -11.3% on-year in January to 2.06 million tonnes, Kallanish learns from worldsteel.
This was the sixth consecutive month of on-year decline, ensuring the New Year began for Middle Eastern steelmakers the same way 2015 ended. January’s output was also below the 2015-monthly-low of 2.09mt recorded in November.
