Sales boost fails to salvage Northwest profits
Despite a strong quarter for sales, Northwest Pipe’s profits fell by almost two-thirds during the third quarter, Kallanish reports.
Northwest earned $10.7 million on sales of $75.2m in Q3, down from $27.8m on sales of $52.5m in Q3 2018.
The discrepancy comes from a 73% boost in tons produced, offset by a -17% dip in selling prices. Northwest attributes the price drop to “...a change in product mix.”
