Sail’s BSP commences special grade steel rail production
Steel Authority of India (Sail)’s Bhilai Steel plant (BSP) has commenced production of special grade thick web asymmetric (TWA) rails for Indian Railways.
The TWA rails are used in cross-over points along railway tracks, Kallanish notes. This special grade steel rail enables trains to change tracks at high speed. Deployment of these advanced “switch point rails” has helped modernise tracks across the railway network to meet rising demand.
