Russian stainless imports increase, driven by longs
Russian imports of stainless steel increased in January-August to a record 333,300 tonnes, up by 24.4% on-year, says national special steel association USSA.
Imports of stainless cold-rolled flat products were up 20.7%, hot-rolled flats increased by 4.4%, long products were more by 85.4%, seamless pipe was up by 103.7%, welded pipe also increased 10.4% and wire increased by 124%. Intake of primary billet was down by 41%, USSA says without providing tonnages.
