Russia’s car production rebounds in May
Carmakers in Russia increased production in May amid the Ukraine war, Western sanctions and shortages of components.
Production amounted to 42,200 vehicles, which is 11 times more than a year earlier, Kallanish notes from national statistical service Rosstat data.
In April, Russian carmakers produced 26,600 vehicles, up 33% on-year (see Kallanish passim).
In January-May, almost 155,000 cars rolled off Russian conveyors, down 42% on the same period last year.
