Russia’s April steel production falls, pipe output jumps
Russia decreased steel production in April, according to data from domestic analytical company Chermet.
The country’s steelmakers produced 6.1 million tonnes of crude steel, down 7.5% year-on-year, Kallanish notes. Rolled products output amounted to 5.4mt, which is 5.3% less versus April 2023.
January-April steel output amounted to 24.4mt, down by 3.2% on-year. Rolled production decreased by 2.4% to 21.3mt.
